Living in Pelham
Pelham for buyers, sellers, renters and rental owners
Pelham is our home base. AKS Realty Group's office is at 500 Keystone Ct. The city is a Shelby County suburb of 24,318 people (2020 Census) on I-65 and US-31, with Alabama's largest state park inside its limits and its own city school district.
Pelham incorporated in 1964 and covers about 39 square miles, so it has more room than the older suburbs to its north. That shows in the housing: established subdivisions, golf-course homes in Ballantrae, townhome communities, and wooded lots near Oak Mountain.
For sellers, the selling points are concrete: I-65 exits 242 and 246, quick access to Hoover and the US-31 corridor, and Oak Mountain State Park. For buyers, the first question is often which side of I-65 and which subdivision. For rental owners, Pelham has a higher Census median rent than Hoover, a smaller rental share, and a property manager in town.

Buy & sell
Buying and selling a home in Pelham
Pelham homes range from single-family houses in established subdivisions to townhomes and golf-course homes in Ballantrae. The Census median owner-occupied home value is $299,800 (2020–2024 ACS), lower than in Hoover or Vestavia Hills in the same survey.
Because Pelham's subdivisions were built over several decades, we compare a home with recent sales in the same subdivision or section, and we look at things buyers here always ask about: which side of I-65, the drive to the interstate, and whether a home backs up to the park or a golf course. Sellers get a free valuation from comparable sales; buyers get our read on each subdivision from an office a few minutes away.
